Sun Logistics modernizes operations with CLI FACTS

Apr 20, 2022

Carrier Logistics Inc. (CLI), veteran providers of freight management software for Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) fleets, today announced that Sun Logistics, headquartered in Maspeth, New York, has implemented CLI’s FACTS solution to more effectively and efficiently meet the first and last mile needs of carriers and shippers.

“We handle first and last mile freight in two of the hardest markets in the U.S., New York City and Miami,” said Nathaniel Klein, COO of Sun Logistics. “Our legacy  system was not able to help us modernize our processes and grow as a leader in first and last mile logistics. After an extensive research and review process we chose CLI because they understand the opportunities we wanted to address and their FACTS software is highly functional for the future state of our business.”

At Sun Logistics, a team led by Klein that included IT and other leaders throughout the organization reviewed numerous transportation management systems. Their goal was to replace existing processes and systems that required significant amounts of paperwork, labor and time with a complete end-to-end solution. CLI FACTS was ultimately chosen as the best fit from among ten software solutions.

Sun Logistics is now using a hosted version of FACTS across its operations in New York and Florida for dispatch and driver management, and a full back-office suite of capabilities. Its 150 drivers use tablets connected to the software via an integration enabled by CLI. In place, as well, at its 64-door service center  in New York City and 62doorservice center  in Miami are CLI’s Dock Management System, along with fully integrated handheld scanners.

According to Klein, Sun Logistics is already realizing improvements by using FACTS in key areas, including:

·  With over 90% of freight crossed-docked labor efficiency, measured by an improvement in bills per hour, has increased by about 50%.

Proper route planning coupled with real time ETAs and text notifcations has increased on-time delivery rates to 99.8%

From its headquarters in Maspeth (Queens), New York, Sun Logistics provides first and last mile services in all five New York City boroughs and Long Island. From its Miami, Florida service center, it serves shippers, carriers and freight fowarders in the South Florida region , including the Florida Keys.

For over 46 years, Sun Logistics, a family-owned company, has focused on providing consistent and reliable service for  its customers.

“We are very pleased that Sun Logistics is realizing the value of its investment in FACTS so quickly as they work to meet the freight pick-up and delivery needs of their customers,” said Ben Wiesen, president of CLI. “Looking forward, we will be providing ongoing updates and improvements that will further facilitate their ability to grow by making effective and predictive data-driven decisions.”
