ECS Group powers Vietnam Airlines cargo growth across USA

one hour ago

Vietnam Airlines has appointed ECS Group as its cargo general sales and service agent (GSSA) in the United States, marking a significant step in the carrier’s ambitious international cargo growth strategy and reinforcing its position in one of the world's most dynamic trade corridors.

The new agreement brings together Vietnam Airlines Cargo’s expanding transpacific network and ECS Group’s extensive commercial expertise, sales reach and digital capabilities across the United States. The partnership is designed to accelerate cargo growth between Vietnam and North America, optimise revenues across growing capacity offerings and deliver enhanced solutions for customers seeking reliable access to rapidly evolving supply chains.

As trade volumes between Vietnam and the United States continue to expand, Vietnam Airlines is well positioned to capture increasing demand generated by manufacturing diversification, e-commerce growth and high-value exports. Under the agreement, ECS Group will manage Vietnam Airlines’ online flights at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), while also developing strategic interline solutions to connect the United States with key Asian gateways, particularly in Korea, providing customers with flexible and competitive transport options into and beyond Asia.

Vietnam Airlines Cargo has steadily strengthened its role as a key logistics partner supporting Vietnam’s emergence as a leading manufacturing and export hub. The airline transports a diverse range of commodities including electronics, semiconductors, automotive components, e-commerce shipments, perishables, pharmaceuticals and other high-value cargo products that require dependable global connectivity and service quality.

Under the agreement, ECS Group will oversee cargo sales, customer development, capacity optimisation, operational supervision and the promotion of both general cargo and specialised cargo solutions throughout the United States market. Customers will also benefit from ECS Group’s advanced digital ecosystem and data-driven approach, leveraging the innovative capabilities of CargoTech companies to enhance visibility, efficiency and commercial performance.

The partnership builds on an already successful relationship between ECS Group and Vietnam Airlines in other international markets, allowing both organisations to replicate proven strategies and best practices while adapting to the specific opportunities presented by the United States market.

Jean Ceccaldi, Chief Executive Officer of ECS Group, said: “Vietnam has become one of the most important growth engines in global trade and Vietnam Airlines Cargo is exceptionally well positioned to benefit from that momentum. By combining our powerful sales network, digital expertise and operational capabilities with the airline’s expanding cargo offering, we are creating a platform for sustained growth in the United States market. This partnership reflects our shared confidence in the long-term potential of transpacific trade and our commitment to delivering greater value for customers.”

Looking ahead, both companies expect global air cargo markets to continue benefiting from the evolution of trade flows, the growth of e-commerce and the continued development of manufacturing networks across Asia. As Vietnam continues to strengthen its role in international trade, demand for efficient and resilient air cargo services is expected to rise further, creating new opportunities for Vietnam Airlines Cargo and ECS Group to expand their cooperation and support customers navigating the next phase of global trade growth.
