North Carolina Railroad Company invests $200,000 for new manufacturing facility in Siler City, NC

Apr 24, 2024

The North Carolina Railroad Company (NCRR) will invest $200,000 to help develop a new manufacturing facility in Siler City, N.C. Innovative Construction Group, LLC (ICG), a subsidiary of PulteGroup Inc., will establish a new manufacturing facility amounting to an estimated $39.8 million of investments into the region while generating approximately 150 new jobs with an average annual wage of $52,949. NCRR is one of several partners named in the announcement.

Through NCRR’s economic development program, NCRR Invests, the company’s investment will provide for the design and construction of a new rail spur to connect the facility with the rail network and will be served by Norfolk Southern Railway (NSR). Once the site is active, rail activity will increase by a minimum of 75 rail cars each year.

ICG serves building professionals focused on single-family, multi-family, and commercial construction projects. The company provides design services, manufactured wall panels, roof trusses and floor systems, and it offers on-site installation to provide a full frame shell construction process. The newly announced facility in Siler City will provide opportunities for production, woodworking, logistics and maintenance roles, adding to ICG’s manufacturing capacity.

“NCRR is proud to play a role in bringing this new facility to North Carolina. The rail spur will enable ICG to make large shipments effectively and efficiently to and from the facility,” said Carl Warren, President and CEO of NCRR. “This investment not only solidifies our commitment to innovation and progress but also signals a new era of job creation and prosperity for our rural communities.”

Additional project partners include the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions, Duke Energy, Norfolk Southern, Chatham County, the Town of Siler City, and the Chatham Economic Development Corporation.
