Tower Cold Chain partners with CRYOPDP to expand temperature range

Sep 11, 2024

Temperature-controlled container specialists Tower Cold Chain and CRYOPDP have partnered to enhance their product offerings to the pharmaceutical supply chain. The collaboration aims to provide an expanded range of solutions, specifically for clinical research, to address the evolving needs of patients.

Customers will benefit from a "one-stop-shop" experience, gaining access to a wider range of advanced temperature-controlled solutions and services via each company's websites and booking services.

Tower Cold Chain is broadening its portfolio by incorporating CRYOPDP’s dry vapor shippers for cryogenic goods, which maintain temperatures from -196°C to -150°C. These insulated aluminium vessels, filled with liquid nitrogen (LN2) and equipped with absorbent materials, ensure the safe transport and preservation of cryopreserved goods. This addition allows Tower to offer a comprehensive range of passive temperature-controlled solutions, catering to all shipment sizes and temperature needs from -196°C to +25°C.

In return, CRYOPDP will now offer its customers Tower’s fully reusable small box solutions with the KTEvolution range, which includes 12-litre, 26-litre, and 57-litre options. These solutions are ideal for small payloads and last-mile delivery at -80°C to +20°C. The KTEvolution range will be a key focus for CRYOPDP, enhancing their current offerings with fully sustainable passive containers to better meet customers' needs.

Niall Balfour, CEO at Tower Cold Chain, said, "We are delighted to announce our collaboration with CRYOPDP, which allows us to expand our product range. This partnership enables Tower to offer sustainable, cryogenic-level solutions to the pharmaceutical supply chain, ultimately helping to improve patient outcomes worldwide."

Cedric Picaud, CEO of CRYOPDP, added, "Working with Tower Cold Chain enables us to become a one-stop shop for our customers. We can now meet our sustainability targets by offering fully reusable containers for temperature-sensitive logistics. Together, we can provide pharmaceutical manufacturers with the most comprehensive range of temperature-controlled solutions available."

The partnership follows Tower and CRYOPDP’s joint masterclass at LogiPharma 2024. Martin Hawes, Global Head of Product Development at Tower Cold Chain, and Adri Sijben, Senior Business Development Director at CRYOPDP, led a seminar titled "Unlocking the Benefits of Reusable Packaging: Enhancing Performance to Address Evolving Pharmaceutical Supply Chain and Patient Needs." The talk provided exclusive insights into the partnership's impact on temperature-sensitive healthcare logistics and the benefits of reusable containers and global networks.

With a combined geographical reach of 59 hubs across the Americas, EMEA and APAC regions, both Tower and CRYOPDP’s temperature-controlled assets are available globally via their networks of strategic Logistics Centres, hubs and distributors, enabling greater proximity and availability for customers.
