TIA launches “Freight Leadership Lab” at 2026 Capital Ideas Conference

Oct 22, 2025

The Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) today announced the launch of The Freight Leadership Lab, a new certification program designed to equip rising brokerage managers with the leadership skills and business acumen needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving supply chain landscape.

The program will debut in April 2026 at the Capital Ideas Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, before continuing with virtual and in-person modules throughout the year.

Through six interactive modules, participants will master strategies in team leadership, financial management, problem solving, ethical culture building, persuasive communication, and coaching for high performance, all tailored specifically to the freight brokerage industry.

“Leadership is not just about managing freight. It’s about building teams, making smart decisions, and setting a vision that drives results,” said Chris Burroughs, President & CEO of TIA. “The Freight Leadership Lab is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for mid-level managers to grow into the leaders our industry needs for the future.”

The program features instruction from seasoned industry experts, including Eileen Dabrowski (Apex Tide Consulting), Alex Fritz (CFO, NT Logistics), Daniel Ilg (President, Ilg Logistics), Mike Riccio (More Than Miles Consulting), David Abell (President, A.M. Transport Services), Georgette Hunter-Franklin (Director of Learning & Development, MODE Global), and instructor, Jim Kenny, PhD.

As a bonus, participants will receive complimentary registration to the 2026 Capital Ideas Conference, providing an immediate opportunity to connect with peers and industry leaders.

“Strong leadership is the cornerstone of a strong supply chain,” Riccio, one of the instructors. “This program gives brokers the tools to grow personally while advancing the performance of their organizations.”
