Modernizing ocean terminals

Sep 19, 2023

Georgia Ports Authority has handled containers and breakbulk at Ocean Terminal since 1958. Now it's time to bring this Savannah facility into the future.

Ocean Terminal is being modernized with a focus on containerized cargo. The refurbishment will increase capacity to 2 million TEUs a year with eight electric ship-to-shore cranes, 2,800 feet of berth space, and 55 hybrid electric rubber-tire gantry cranes.

Are you ready for the reimagined Ocean Terminal? Phase I opens in early 2025, with Phase II coming online in spring 2026.
