DHL Supply Chain announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Vizient, the largest member-driven healthcare performance improvement company in the United States, to become a qualified supplier of supply chain third-party logistics (3PL) services. The agreement allows Vizient members, including hospital systems and healthcare suppliers, increased access to best-in-class service logistics solutions delivered by DHL Supply Chain.
"We are thrilled to have this agreement with Vizient, an organization that shares our commitment to providing high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective solutions to its customers," said Jim Saponaro, President of Life Sciences & Healthcare, DHL Supply Chain. "We believe that our deep expertise in logistics and supply chain management, combined with Vizient's extensive network of healthcare providers and its broad portfolio of supply chain services, will enable us to deliver innovative solutions that drive value for healthcare providers and their patients."
DHL Supply Chain will leverage its extensive experience in the healthcare sector to provide Vizient members with a comprehensive range of logistics services, including transportation management, warehousing and distribution, and value-added services impacting customer-owned and supplier-owned inventory. Vizient members will be able to tap into the company's North American network of over 500 distribution centers, of which 33 are specialized to handle life sciences and healthcare customers. DHL will also offer customized solutions tailored to each customer's needs, helping them optimize their supply chain operations and improve patient outcomes.
“This contract represents an expansion of our services into a new category — third-party logistics,” said Chad Mitchell, Associate Vice President, Contract & Program Services, Vizient. “Covid’s impact on the healthcare supply chain drove a shift in purchasing behaviors, highlighting the need for logistics services for provider self-distribution. We recognize DHL as a leader in the logistics field and we believe the capabilities offered by DHL can meet a significant need in the market.”
