Capes Shipping Agencies to represent DEME Offshore in Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) Project

Jul 05, 2023

Capes Shipping Agencies today announced that it would represent DEME Offshore US LLC in Virginia during the construction of Dominion Energy’s Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project. The 2.6-gigawatt project, consisting of 176 wind turbines located 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach, will be the largest of its kind in the country.

“We are very excited to be partnering with DEME Offshore US as their agent for the CVOW project,” said Michael Coleman, President & CEO of CV International / Capes Shipping Agencies. “We were fortunate to have had experience in the early stages of the CVOW project and with the geophysical survey ships that were working off our coast. We look forward to putting our experience and local knowledge to work for DEME Offshore US.”

“We chose Capes Shipping Agencies due to their local expertise and port knowledge,” said Tobe Possemiers, T&I Manager of DEME Offshore US. “It was apparent during our search for a port agent that they had what it takes to service our needs for the project.”

Bobby Scott, Director of Business Development at Capes Shipping Agencies, added, “We are fortunate to have been awarded this work by DEME Offshore US. It has been a pleasure getting to know their team during the tender process, and we are eager to begin this collaborative project. These are exciting times for the U.S. offshore wind industry, and we look forward to playing such a significant role in the CVOW project.”

The CVOW project is expected to support economic development in the region by creating hundreds of jobs during its construction and ongoing operation. In addition, the CVOW will generate enough clean energy to power more than 600,000 homes in Virginia. The project is a major step forward for the Commonwealth of Virginia, and Capes Shipping Agencies is proud to be a part of it.
