Survitec scales Middle East operations with expansion of Fujairah service station

May 06, 2025

Survitec, a global leader in Survival Technology, has announced a significant expansion of its Fujairah service station, underscoring its commitment to scaling operations across the Middle East.

The move, which adds 1,350 square meters of new capacity, transforms the UAE-based facility into a full-service station. It integrates life raft servicing for RaftXChange, a life raft rental and exchange solution, alongside its established lifeboat inspection and marine fire safety service operations. The expanded site is designed to deliver faster turnaround times, streamlined compliance, and a one-stop solution for shipowners and operators navigating an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.

For Beibei Qiu, Executive Managing Director for APAC & MEA at Survitec, the expansion signals more than just physical growth. “This is a targeted investment in regional capacity and capability,” she said. “By broadening the scope of our Fujairah operations, we’re responding directly to the growing demand in the Middle East, ensuring we can deliver timely, flexible solutions tailored to the evolving needs of our customers such as RaftXChange, which enhances operational efficiency, reduces vessel downtime, and provides greater flexibility in managing life raft compliance.”

Strategically located near the Strait of Hormuz, the Fujairah facility positions Survitec to better serve shipping routes across the Gulf of Oman and the wider region. The expansion enables the company to expand its servicing capabilities under one roof, offering customers a more agile, cost-effective, and compliant approach to maintaining their onboard critical safety and survival solutions.

“Increasing capacity is just one part of the story,” Qiu added. “Ultimately, this is about giving our customers peace of mind and the confidence that their safety equipment is in expert hands, wherever their vessels operate.”

The expansion forms part of Survitec’s broader regional growth strategy, as it looks to strengthen its footprint in key global shipping hubs while aligning its services with the maritime sector’s focus on operational readiness and compliance.

“As the industry navigates the complexity of existing and new incoming regulations, customers can now avail of a single provider for their safety servicing. This reduces complexity for customers, making it easier for them to focus on their core business,” said Qiu.

The Fujairah expansion also represents an investment in talent and expertise. Survitec has recruited and certified additional skilled technicians to deliver servicing and inspection across life rafts, lifeboats, and marine fire safety systems. The facility has secured full regulatory approval from the UAE Civil Defence and the Ministry of Interior, affirming its readiness to meet the highest safety and compliance standards.

With over 400 service centers spanning 2,000 ports worldwide, the company is reinforcing its status as a global leader in Survival Technology, aligning local operations with the specific demands of regional maritime hubs.

The expanded facility was officially opened at a ceremony attended by Survitec CEO Robert Kledal and Mr. Sharief Al Awardi, Director General of the Fujairah Free Zone.

“The expansion of Fujairah reflects our commitment to long-term investment in regions critical to global shipping,” said Robert Kledal, CEO. “By strengthening our operational footprint and technical capabilities, we’re enhancing service delivery for our customers and reinforcing Survitec’s purpose: We Exist to Protect Lives.”
