ASM puts cyber security at the heart of latest platform release

one hour ago

Agency Sector Management (ASM), which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, will launch a new version of its Sequoia customs clearance platform to strengthen security and performance, as cyber security risks facing freight forwarders continue to grow.

Sequoia V7 will be released this summer and includes enhancements designed to strengthen security, improve performance, and support the continued resilience of customs operations.

"ASM has supported UK freight forwarders for 40 years by developing customs software around their operational needs," said Simon Adams, Program Manager, Agency Sector Management, speaking at the Multimodal Show today.

"Sequoia V7 reflects that continued commitment, strengthening security and performance at a time when digital customs processes are increasingly exposed to sophisticated cyber threats.

“We would encourage all UK freight forwarders and logistics companies to review their cyber security arrangements and take appropriate action.”

ASM's Sequoia platform is used by more than 450 freight forwarders and logistics companies across the UK to manage customs declarations and related trade processes.

The ASM team celebrated its 40th anniversary with its customers at Multimodal in Birmingham, UK.

"Forty years is an important milestone for ASM and reflects four decades of working closely with the British International Freight Association and the freight forwarding community to help businesses navigate an increasingly complex customs environment," said Sharon Greer, General Manager, Agency Sector Management.

"Innovation remains one of our core principles. By continuously enhancing Sequoia's automation and integration capabilities, we are helping forwarders reduce administrative burdens, improve efficiency, and stay ahead of an ever-changing customs landscape."

The UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) recently reported responding to more than 200 cyber incidents affecting critical infrastructure and its supporting ecosystem, with approximately 75% linked to hostile states, highlighting the increasing risks facing interconnected supply chains and customs operations.
