Gov. McKee, QDC cut ribbon on  Modernized Pier 2 at Port of Davisville

Gov. Dan McKee, Lt. Gov. Sabina Matos and state and local officials gathered at the Port of Davisville to cut the ribbon on the modernized Pier 2 last week.

The $83 million expansion, which came in $7 million under budget, will extend the Pier’s life by 50 years. A new third berth added to the end of the pier will bring more shipping and jobs to the Ocean State, positioning Quonset to become a hub of the offshore wind industry.

“I’m proud to cut the ribbon at Pier 2 and I’m looking forward to seeing the new $60 million investment my Administration secured in this year’s budget to ensure Quonset continues to be an economic driver for the state, positioning us to continue leading the nation in the race for offshore wind,” Governor McKee said.
