It is with profound sadness that Milestone Equipment Holdings announces the passing of Chief Executive Officer, Don Clayton, who died on Jan. 21, 2025, after suffering a sudden medical emergency. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.

Don Clayton was an extraordinary leader and visionary, and his impact on Milestone and his team is immeasurable. He joined Milestone in 2016 as Chief Financial Officer before becoming CEO in 2017. Under his leadership, Milestone worked tirelessly to serve our customers and grow rapidly while modernizing our operations and systems. This has led Milestone to become one of the largest transportation equipment lessors with a fleet of over 100,000 owned and managed trailers, chassis, and containers across more than 70 locations nationwide.

Effective immediately, Chief Operating Officer, Ralph Western, has been named as interim CEO, ensuring continuity and stability for our team and our customers. Ralph will guide Milestone forward, honoring Don’s vision and legacy.

Plans to honor Don Clayton’s legacy will be announced in the coming weeks. The Milestone community mourns this loss and extends our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues.
