LATAM Brasil trims capacity plans on fuel costs, cuts seen into third quarter

LATAM Airlines' Brazilian unit is expected to trim capacity by about 3% in July compared with its initial plans for the period due to rising fuel costs, CEO Jerome Cadier told Reuters on Monday.

The move would repeat a reduction seen in June and is likely to persist into the third quarter, Cadier said in an interview on the sidelines of the International Air Transport Association's annual general meeting in Rio de Janeiro.

The adjustment comes on top of initial expectations for 11% growth compared with 2025, Cadier said, meaning the carrier is still expanding capacity year-over-year, but at a slower pace than originally planned.
