CrownX | Driver app wins business for air freight trucking firms

Crown Data Systems, part of Tenet through a recent merger, has launched CrownX | Driver, a mobile app that integrates with the company’s Crown Freight Manager software. The app connects cartage agents’ drivers and dispatch teams, providing real-time updates to help meet customers’ goals. CrownX | Driver is designed to improve visibility and accelerate operational updates.

“We can set up the app to mirror our clients’ KPIs, so the app guides a driver to complete things such as taking a photo of a bill of lading before closing the job,” said Chris Dinter, manager, Key Accounts & Cruise Operations for Aerostream Logistics Canada. “The app will tell drivers if they miss this requirement, and we can set up a prompt for drivers to upload a photo.”

With CrownX | Driver, cartage agents send jobs directly to a driver’s cellphone. Each driver has the CrownX app installed on their phone. When a cartage agent sends a driver a job from a freight forwarder, the app notifies the driver about the pickup or delivery location, along with other details.

During a delivery, the app allows the driver to take pictures of the delivered item and delivery receipt. The driver uploads the images, and the information is sent to Crown Freight Manager. Through this process, all of a cartage agent’s proofs of delivery are stored in Crown Freight Manager.

Customers can go online to view status updates through the Crown Connect portal. Customers with integrations to Crown Data Systems can have proof-of-delivery status and images, including hard-copy proofs of delivery, other backup paperwork and freight photos, sent directly to their systems of record. Through the app and portal, customers can view updates and proofs of delivery, reducing calls to cartage agents.

Driver app leads to more business

“Our drivers put the app on their phone and know how to use it in a day,” said Bob Whitley, operations manager for Ventura Highway, Inc. “They can collect signatures, PODs, and images of deliveries to meet whatever KPIs our customers have.”

“By using CrownX | Driver data, we demonstrated higher scores for our client, and they awarded us their air freight business to go with the ground shipments we were already handling,” added Dinter.
