Kinimatic, the Intelligent Fulfillment platform for scaling brands, today announced Jim John as its new Vice President of Technology. Jim brings more than twenty years of building the platforms behind modern supply chains, with senior engineering leadership roles at Flexe and C.H. Robinson.
At Kinimatic, Jim leads technology strategy and platform engineering. He owns the multi-tenant SaaS platform, the AI-powered Network Optimization System, the company's native EDI integration built on AWS, and the modernization roadmap moving Kinimatic toward a fully modular, cloud-native architecture. He also directs the continued development of Kini AI, the intelligence layer powering Kinimatic's network of more than 350 vetted fulfillment facilities.
Jim joins Kinimatic from Flexe, where he served as VP of Software Engineering and led an 80-engineer organization through one of the most aggressive AI adoption and platform modernization efforts in the company's history. He earned two promotions in four years and oversaw a $20 million annual budget while shipping enterprise integrations that expanded Flexe's market reach by 25 percent. Before Flexe, he spent nearly twenty years at C.H. Robinson, advancing from Technology Architect to Senior Group Manager and leading globally distributed engineering teams across the U.S., Poland, and India that supported more than 2 billion annual supply chain transactions.
“Jim joins Kinimatic at a critical stage as we continue building the Fulfillment Management System powering the Kinimatic platform across our network of more than 350 warehouses,” said Kris Kellaway, President and Co-Founder of Kinimatic. “His experience modernizing enterprise logistics platforms and scaling engineering organizations will help accelerate our vision of giving brands a more connected and intelligent way to manage distributed fulfillment, which has become essential for competing in today’s increasingly demanding supply chain environment.”
Jim John joins at a defining moment for the industry. Two-day delivery has made distributed fulfillment the default operating model for scaling brands, and Gartner expects 70 percent of large organizations to adopt AI-based supply chain forecasting by 2030. Kini AI is built to be the intelligence layer that gets brands there, with capabilities spanning order routing, inventory positioning, parcel optimization, network design, exception management, and operational insights.
“Jim has a unique ability to bridge operational reality with ambitious technology vision,” said Mike Coers, SVP of Managed Logistics at Kinimatic. “He understands what scaling brands are asking for because he can connect the complexity of modern supply chains to practical, customer-focused execution. As Kinimatic continues building the intelligence layer behind distributed fulfillment, Jim adds the kind of leadership that helps turn bold ideas into capabilities our customers can immediately leverage to grow and operate more efficiently.”
Jim’s appointment reinforces Kinimatic's "built by operators" foundation. The Kinimatic team brings together logistics professionals and technologists who have designed, scaled, and run distributed fulfillment networks firsthand. Jim fits the pattern, with a career spent at the intersection of supply chain operations and software engineering, and a leadership style known for building cultures of trust and developing the next generation of technical leaders.
