Hwy Haul, a leading digital freight platform for fresh produce, today announced that for the second consecutive year, it has been selected as winner of the “B2B Marketplace of the Year” award in the 2022 AgTech Breakthrough Awards conducted by AgTech Breakthrough, a leading market intelligence organization that recognizes the top companies, technologies and products in the global agricultural and food technology markets today.
Hwy Haul is a silicon-valley-based technology company that is building a next-generation digital freight platform for fresh produce. It connects Shippers - growers, distributors, wholesalers and as well as retailers - directly with reliable truckers. This eliminates intermediary friction by introducing end-to-end digital applications and advanced temperature and humidity monitoring.
For carriers, the digital platform system eliminates the process of making daily calls and replaces it with platform notifications. Through algorithms, it can also help carriers identify the best rates. Additionally, the platform can be customized to a carrier’s preferred load types, expected earnings per mile, and more.
Shippers, meanwhile, are able to instantly find quotes and book shipment load. The platform also enables load tracking while delivering reports on real-time humidity and temperature monitoring as the produce travels. Lastly, it provides data insights into wait times and detention costs.
“We are honored to be singled out by AgTech Breakthrough once again this year. Our mission remains to be the leading digital freight platform for fresh produce. We feel that by building a next-generation digital freight platform that connects shippers directly with truckers and introducing end-to-end digital applications, we can create a business-class shipping experience for a farm-to-fork taste,” said Syed Aman, Co-Founder and CEO, Hwy Haul. “I’m proud to have built the online grocery platform for Walmart and helped to scale it globally. This experience drives us to deliver freshness at your doorstep, reduce wastage during transportation, and create a future for sustainable growth.”
The mission of the annual AgTech Breakthrough Awards program is to conduct the industry’s most comprehensive analysis and evaluation of agricultural and food technology categories, including Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) based agricultural technologies, farm management, indoor farming, food quality, data analytics and many more. This year's program attracted more than 1,600 nominations from over 15 different countries throughout the world.
“Produce spends half its life in the supply chain and $15 billion is wasted or rejected in transit every year. Produce wastage during transportation is a real issue that can be helped by collapsing the supply chain and improving conditions, such as refrigeration, while it is in transit,” said Bryan Vaughn, Managing Director, AgTech Breakthrough. “Hwy Haul has access to tens of thousands of reliable truck drivers on their platform that are available at the click of a button as we as granular data into the entire process of delivery. Congratulations on being our choice for ‘B2B Marketplace of the Year.’”
