Fontaine Modification notches production milestone

Fontaine Modification recently celebrated production of the 20,000th truck at its Statesville, North Carolina, modification center. The milestone truck is a 2024 Freightliner Cascadia Class 8 tractor prepared for long-time customer Penske Truck Leasing.

Fontaine Modification is an engineering-driven provider of post-production services for of all types of commercial vehicles. It works seamlessly with OEMs to provide end-user customers like Penske with work-ready trucks. Its Statesville modification center is dedicated to supporting trucks built at the Freightliner Cleveland and Mt. Holly Truck Manufacturing Plants and the Freightliner Custom Chassis (FCCC) Manufacturing Plant in Gaffney, South Carolina. Opened in 2012, the Statesville operation processes some 50 trucks per week.

“Along with celebrating the delivery of the 20,000th truck from Statesville, we also celebrate our valued employees for their commitment to producing the highest-quality services and products for all our customers,” said Jamil Young, Fontaine Modification president.

The Penske Cascadia order included installation of a Thermo King TriPac® auxiliary power unit (APU) on each truck.

“Fontaine Modification streamlines and simplifies the delivery of our trucks, eliminating normal supply chain issues,” said Paul Rosa, senior vice president of procurement and fleet planning at Penske Truck Leasing. “Our customers receive their trucks on time and ready to start driving down the road immediately.”

Bill O’Shea, Fontaine Modification senior sales engineer, praised the Statesville team’s professionalism and dedication. “Achieving this milestone was made possible through the hard work of the Statesville team and their devotion to fulfilling every order with engineered quality and workmanship,” he said.

Services offered at Fontaine’s Statesville location include installing telematics, hydraulic systems, suspension, alternative-fuel power trains, and specialized truck bodies.
