EXG transports heavy equipment for Paradip Refinery project

Apr 24, 2024

Express Global Logistics delivers heavy equipment as part of the Mega PX-PTA Project at the Paradip Refinery.

The company delivered 31 pieces of heavy equipment in a narrow timeframe to meet their client’s requirements, achieving an extraordinary turnaround time of 5 to 6 hours per package.

The equipment, including an isomar reactor, finishing columns, a power transformer, gas compressor and a xylene column - each weighing between 500 to 1160 MT with exotic metallurgy, further underscores EXG's capability to handle complex tasks efficiently.

Amongst these units, the heaviest featured dimensions of 74.0 (L) x 9.5 (W) x 10.3 (H) metres, whilst the longest unit measured 90 metres in length and weighed 600 MT. This movement involved jacking the equipment onto an SPMT.

This operation spanned from the middle of June 2023 to late November 2023, and required 56 SPMT axle lines in various configurations, along with 2 power pack units.

Additionally, 4 hydraulic jacks with a capacity of 200 MT each, coupled with power packs, were utilised for jacking up the equipment to achieve the necessary axle insertion height.

"We leveraged our own SPMTs and hydraulic jacks, which significantly contributed to the cost-effectiveness of the project."
