European Cargo joins growing list of airlines partnering with Unilode to drive global ULD pooling

Nov 18, 2025

European Cargo has partnered with Unilode Aviation Solutions to introduce a digitalized ULD pooling management solution across its global cargo operations.

By joining Unilode's global ULD network, this collaboration highlights European Cargo's commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and advancing sustainability in air freight through gaining access to on-demand ULDs and maintenance services for its fleet. This transition reduces logistics, repair, and repositioning costs while improving operational agility, crucial for an airline like European Cargo with its dynamic cargo and charter operations.

Unilode's sustainability-driven operations and digital tracking technologies will provide real-time visibility, improved utilization, and accurate sustainability reporting, helping European Cargo measure and demonstrate tangible progress toward decarbonization.

"This partnership will provide European Cargo with the focus, agility, and flexibility needed to support its growth strategy through our pooling concept," said Mohammed Akhlaq, Chief Commercial Officer at Unilode Aviation Solutions. "By leveraging our shared ULD management solutions, European Cargo can enhance and accelerate its expansion while staying aligned with its sustainability and digital transformation goals."

"We are delighted to partner with Unilode to strengthen our operational resilience and efficiency," said Lionel Marais, Cargo Manager at European Cargo. "This collaboration gives us the flexibility to scale our operations, optimize ULD management, and advance our commitment to sustainable and digital growth."

In recent months, a growing number of leading airlines, including American Airlines, Riyadh Air, Thai Airways, and Royal Brunei, have joined Unilode’s end-to-end ULD management and pooling solution. This continued expansion strengthens the global pool of assets, now surpassing 200,000 ULDs across more than 500 airports worldwide. By combining resources and data-driven insights for all, Unilode’s model is redefining the concept of ULD management, driving greater operational efficiency, enabling digital transformation, and advancing the aviation industry’s collective sustainability goals.
