EccoFreight completes 48-ton breakbulk shipment from Spain to the Dominican Republic

EccoFreight Transport Service, S.L. successfully completed the transportation of two out-of-gauge (OOG) EO Sterilizer chambers from the Port of Barcelona, Spain, to Puerto Caucedo, Dominican Republic, for final delivery to JABIL. The project required specialized breakbulk handling, heavy-lift operations, and precise coordination to meet a fixed installation schedule.

Each sterilizer chamber measured 16.61 × 3.91 × 4.03 meters and weighed 48,300 kg, making containerized transport impossible. The shipment also included 12 accessory packages transported in two 40' Open Top and two 40' High Cube containers. Key challenges included obtaining permits for exceptional road transport, coordinating heavy-lift operations for the gearless cargo, and maintaining a strict project schedule. Through detailed planning and continuous on-site supervision, the cargo was certified seaworthy, loaded on schedule, and completed without damage.
