Artificial Intelligence at the core of CMA CGM Group’s maritime, logistics, and media activities

Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CMA CGM Group, has placed artificial intelligence (AI) at the core of the Group’s transformation and innovation strategy.

This strategic positioning is reflected in major partnerships, such as the recently announced collaboration withGoogle, aimed at accelerating AI adoption across the Group’s operations. Several key investments—including inMistral AI, PoolSide, and the Kyutai research lab—highlight a clear objective: optimizing processes, strengthening competitive advantage, and leading the digital revolution in shipping, logistics, and media.

AI serving CMA CGM’s employees, customers, and operations

AI for employees

CMA CGM invests in training and upskilling its employees through dedicated programs. These initiatives are led by TANGRAM, the Group’s center of excellence and innovation, inaugurated in April 2024 in Marseille. This center trains up to 3,000 employees per year. AI-driven tools like MAIA, the Group’s internal AI assistant, and Copilotsimplify daily tasks, boosting productivity and employee satisfaction.

AI for customers

AI enables CMA CGM to transform the customer experience by optimizing processes. Inquiry response times have been significantly reduced thanks to innovative solutions, delivering faster, more precise, and personalized interactions.

AI for maritime, logistics, and media activities

In July 2024, CMA CGM signed a strategic partnership with Google to transform its operations through AI. This partnership enhances maritime route optimization, container handling, and inventory management, while also improving vessel load factors. In logistics, it strengthens warehouse management by forecasting and planning operations based on better volume and demand predictions. Finally, CMA Media will integrate AI-powered tools and services to support journalists in their daily work.

Strategic investments and partnerships

To support these developments, CMA CGM Group has made several strategic investments in cutting-edge AI companies:

Consistent participation in international AI events

To highlight its artificial intelligence initiatives and foster innovation, the CMA CGM Group participates in several major events:
