Successful battery project handling by GD-iTS Group | from China to Germany

Nov 20, 2025

Destination: Visbek, Germany

Introduction:
GD-iTS Group, a member of the AerOceaNetwork (AON), successfully completed the delivery of 20 heavy battery units from Shanghai, China, to Visbek, Germany. Each unit measured 7.81 x 2.65 x 1.70 meters and weighed 22.5 tons. Originally planned for barge transport, severe storms and a postponed terminal barge call required a rapid switch to road transport to avoid demurrage and maintain the project schedule.

Body:
The project involved full logistics coordination, including cargo retrieval from the terminal, interim storage, and final delivery. The units departed from Shanghai, arrived in Rotterdam, and were delivered on time to Visbek.

The main challenge was clearing the cargo within the terminal’s free time amid storm disruptions and terminal closures. Thanks to rapid coordination and flexibility in transport mode, the operation remained on track without delays or additional costs.

The project highlights GD-iTS Group’s expertise in managing complex project cargo and demonstrates its ability to adapt quickly to unforeseen challenges while maintaining operational efficiency.
