AAR statement on International Level Crossing Awareness Day 2023

Jun 15, 2023

AAR President and CEO Ian Jefferies released the following statement ahead of the observance of International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD) on Thursday, June 15th.
“Grade crossing and trespasser accidents remain the single most persistent safety challenge across the North American rail network. Overwhelmingly, these are preventable tragedies.
“America’s railroads are proud to support ILCAD when we raise awareness about grade crossing safety across the globe. Public education combined with new infrastructure investments to eliminate grade crossings and upgrade technology and signaling at crossings hold the power to reduce these incidents and save lives.”
