The Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) congratulates Derek Barrs on his confirmation as Administrator of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Confirmed by a 51–47 Senate vote, Barrs brings more than three decades of leadership in commercial motor vehicle enforcement and industry safety, including his tenure as Chief of the Florida Highway Patrol.
The following statement can be attributed to Chris Burroughs, President & CEO of the Transportation Intermediaries Association:
“The Transportation Intermediaries Association congratulates Derek Barrs on his confirmation as FMCSA Administrator. This confirmation comes at a pivotal time for the freight industry, as FMCSA faces mounting challenges related to safety, fraud prevention, and regulatory modernization.
TIA and its members look forward to partnering with Administrator Barrs and his team to restore trust in the freight system and advance a safer, more transparent, and efficient supply chain. The issues confronting our industry — from combating organized fraud to modernizing carrier oversight — demand strong collaboration between the public and private sectors.
As the voice of the third-party logistics industry, TIA remains committed to working constructively with FMCSA and Congress to deliver common-sense reforms that protect small businesses, enhance safety, and strengthen the integrity of the transportation marketplace.”
