The Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) welcomed the House passage of the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act (CORCA), legislation aimed at strengthening federal coordination and enforcement against organized cargo theft networks impacting the U.S. supply chain.
The following statement can be attributed to TIA President and CEO Chris Burroughs:
“The House’s passage of the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act (CORCA) marks a meaningful step forward in the fight against organized cargo theft and strategic fraud targeting America’s supply chain. For freight brokers and logistics providers, these crimes are not isolated incidents: they are sophisticated, coordinated operations that disrupt commerce, increase consumer costs, and threaten the integrity of freight movement nationwide.
“TIA has long advocated for stronger federal coordination, better intelligence sharing, and more aggressive enforcement tools to combat these criminal networks. CORCA helps move those efforts in the right direction by improving collaboration between law enforcement and industry stakeholders while elevating cargo theft as the serious organized crime issue it has become.
“We welcome the bipartisan leadership that helped advance this legislation and the hundreds of TIA members who engaged directly with lawmakers to help get it passed. TIA looks forward to continuing to work with Congress, federal agencies, and coalition partners as the bill moves through the Senate to ensure the supply chain remains secure, resilient, and protected from bad actors.”
