T&I Republicans Deliver in First 100 Days of 118th Congress

Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) issued the following statement as the 100th day of House Republicans’ majority in the 118th Congress approaches next week:

“The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee hit the ground running in the 118th Congress, and already we have passed through the House multiple wins for the American people. In just 100 days, T&I Republicans have led efforts to pass bills to renew our nation’s energy independence, protect Americans from the overreaching Biden Waters of the United States rule, and end the COVID-19 national emergency declaration.

“We are also fulfilling our promise to provide needed oversight of the Biden Administration and successfully convinced the Federal Highway Administration to substantially revise and replace its guidance memo that attempted to undo the flexibility provided to states in the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. And we are only just getting started. The Committee continues to lay the groundwork for critical authorizations of the Federal Aviation Administration, the pipeline safety program, and the U.S. Coast Guard later this year, and I look forward to ensuring that our nation has a safe and efficient transportation network that meets the economic needs of our diverse states and communities.”

Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Accomplishments:

• Introduced and led House passage of the Congressional Review Act resolution to overturn the Biden Administration’s flawed, burdensome Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule.
• Introduced a key component of H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, which prevents federal water regulations from being hijacked and weaponized to block important energy projects.
• Led House consideration of H.J. Res. 7, a resolution to end the COVID-19 national emergency declaration; the measure was signed into law on April 10, 2023.
• Successfully pressured the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) into issuing a substantially revised replacement of its December 2021 policy memorandum which attempted to enact a wish list of policies intentionally negotiated out of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
• Sent 21 oversight letters to various departments within the Biden Administration.
