The AKCA applauds President Trump for imposing a 50% Section 232 tariff on all kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities and associated products

Sep 29, 2025

The American Kitchen Cabinet Alliance (AKCA) today applauds President Trump’s bold leadership and thanks him for imposing a 50% tariff on all cabinetry and component parts as the result of his Section 232 investigation. The Presidential Proclamation will soon be signed into law by President Trump to save American cabinet manufacturers from a flood of unfairly traded foreign cabinet imports that are threatening 250,000 cabinet jobs across the country.

“Right now, I feel the hand of history on our shoulder for America’s cabinet industry. Without President Trump and his team at the U.S. Department of Commerce taking decisive action our more than $14 billion industry would be wiped out” remarked John Gahm, President of Kitchen Kompact Inc. “With no exceptions and no exemptions to the Section 232 tariff on foreign cabinet imports, we will unleash a new Golden Age for domestic cabinetry manufacturing.”

“President Trump’s 50% tariff on all kitchen cabinet imports is a gamechanger for America’s cabinet industry and we will ramp up domestic cabinet production in North Carolina and across America” said Edwin Underwood, President and COO at Marsh Furniture Company. “Under President Trump’s leadership we will strengthen U.S. national and economic security as we work to Make Cabinetry Great Again.”

“Let me applaud President Trump for his bold and decisive leadership by imposing a 50% tariff on foreign kitchen cabinet imports” remarked Stephen Wellborn, Co-Owner of Wellborn Cabinet. “America’s cabinet industry supports small towns like mine across our nation, and we appreciate the tremendous support of our U.S. Senators Katie Britt and Tommy Tuberville who stood strong with over 5,000 cabinet manufacturing workers and their families in Alabama,” said Co-Owner of Wellborn Cabinet Stephen Wellborn.

The 50% Section 232 tariff on lumber, timber and derivative products like cabinetry is part of President Trump’s commitment to rebuild domestic manufacturing. Now America’s cabinet industry and over 250,000 great American workers can compete on a level playing field.
