STV celebrates opening of new PA highway with PennDOT and community leaders as part of the Central Susquehanna Valley Transportation Project

Jun 30, 2022

STV, a leader in engineering, architectural, planning and program and construction management services, celebrated the completion of the northern section of the $900 million Central Susquehanna Valley Transportation (CSVT) project at a ribbon-cutting ceremony with client Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 3-0’s District Executive Eric High, P.E., and other local Pennsylvania officials.

In concert with PennDOT, STV was the lead designer for the four-lane limited access highway, which will help alleviate congestion and improve safety along the commercial corridor in the heart of Pennsylvania. The 5.3-mile portion of the new, 13-mile, four-lane highway will connect Route 147 in Northumberland County south of the Route 45/Route 147 Interchange to Route 11/15 in Snyder County.

“The community and traveling public have anticipated this roadway for quite a long time,” said Barbara Hoehne, P.E., STV engineering director and project manager. “The connection will provide traffic relief for U.S. 15 and fill a tremendous transportation need for the region.
STV has been involved with the CSVT project for the past 25 years, initially serving as a major subconsultant to perform engineering studies and preliminary design services. The firm’s alternative analysis informed the final environmental impact statement.
Two events marked this milestone ribbon cutting: a family-friendly, public event for citizens to walk and bike on the new roadway and river bridge on Saturday, June 25; and a VIP ribbon cutting, which was held on Wednesday, June 29, and included local officials, representatives, and community members.

As one of the leading highway and bridge design and engineering firms in the country, STV has transportation and infrastructure experience of varying scope and complexity nationwide. The firm has taken on other major highway and bridge projects, including the $880 million I-95 Betsy Ross Interchange for PennDOT Engineering District 6-0.
