SSA Marine, one of the world’s leading independent marine terminal operators and the largest container terminal operator in the Americas, announced today that it has expanded its investment inTermont Montreal Inc. (“Termont”) by acquiring an additional 25% interest in the company from Logistec. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The transaction increases SSA Marine’s stake in Termont to 50%, building on its legacy of Canadian marine terminal and stevedoring operations. Termont operates the Maisonneuve Terminal and the Viau Terminal at the Port of Montreal, handling container cargo with a capacity of 1.1 million TEUs. Termont is one of the two primary container terminal operators in the Port of Montreal, where approximately 1,000 stevedores are employed.

“We’re proud to deepen our relationship with the team at Termont and thrilled to continue to support the company’s mission, employees and operations over the long term,” said Nicolas Gauthier, President of SSA Marine’s global container division. “This investment builds on SSA Marine’s and our affiliates’ 75-year legacy of North American terminal and stevedoring operations.”

“SSA Marine is a major container handling service provider that will build on the expertise of the Termont team,” said Sean Pierce, CEO of LOGISTEC. “This transaction is aligned with LOGISTEC’s focus on expanding our multi-purpose terminal portfolio at the Port of Montreal, a key North American gateway, and our global expansion.”

SSA Marine is dedicated to creating safe, efficient and sustainable operations through its network of container, cruise, auto, and conventional cargo terminals. The company’s global container division includes 21 long-term leases and concessions as well as six container stevedoring terminals in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Panama.
