Britta Weber takes over at the Hupac Group

one hour ago

Hupac is pleased to announce that Britta Weber has taken up her role as CEO of the Hupac Group. The Board of Directors and the staff extend her a warm welcome. At the same time, the Board of Directors would like to thank Benedetta Masciari, Alessandro Valenti and Beni Kunz for their successful leadership of the company during the transition period.

Britta Weber is spending her first day at work at Hupac where she feels most at home: amongst her employees. After an initial meet-and-greet at the Hupac Group’s headquarters in Chiasso, she is visiting the terminal in Busto Arsizio. “Busto Arsizio is a key location for Hupac’s development. To this day, it remains the most important hub for our core business: transalpine north-south transport. Here, 220 people ensure that 350,000 road consignments are shifted to rail each year. In doing so, they make a significant contribution to modal shift”. This shift has lost momentum in recent years, with rail losing market share. Britta Weber aims to reverse this trend: over the coming years, the aim is to regain market share and strengthen the modal shift in the long term.

Hans-Jörg Bertschi, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Hupac, is accompanying Britta Weber on her first day at work. “We are delighted to have recruited Britta Weber to Hupac, a professional with extensive international experience in the fields of customer logistics, innovation and digitalization. She has what it takes to continue our company’s success story”.

In her first few weeks as CEO, Britta Weber is focusing on customers and terminal locations. “Hupac’s strong presence in Europe’s key industrial regions is a key factor in our customers’ success”. That is why she considers it important to visit the Milano Smistamento terminal, which is currently under construction, at an early stage. “Stable networks and transport chains are invaluable in today’s logistics sector. With the new terminal in the east of Milan, we are expanding our existing terminal network and creating additional resilience within the network. This enables us to respond more flexibly to disruptions and minimize their impact on our customers”.

Britta Weber was most recently Vice-President of UPS Healthcare for Europe and Asia. She is 42 years old, married and lives in the canton of Ticino.
