SESCO Cement announced the successful delivery and installation of a large-scale ship unloader to its facility at Port Tampa Bay, marking a significant milestone in the company's expansion into the Florida market.
The custom-designed and built ship unloader arrived in Tampa after a 25-day voyage from Egypt. After a nearly two-year custom design and engineering process, the unloader was assembled at a SESCO facility in Egypt, and shipped to their location in the Port Redwing area of Port Tampa Bay. This piece of machinery represents a critical phase of SESCO's strategic investment in Tampa operations, designed to better serve Florida's robust construction sector. SESCO has been preparing the site to receive and distribute high-volume bulk cement products, and the ship unloader is the last component necessary for full-scale operations.
"We're very excited to establish our presence at Port Tampa Bay, one of the nation's most strategically located ports," said Aly El Etreby, Vice President of Business Development at SESCO Group. "This investment reflects our commitment to the Florida construction industry and our confidence in the region's continued growth. Our Tampa operations will allow us to deliver materials more efficiently while creating quality jobs in the local community."
As part of the expansion, SESCO has begun hiring and will have 25 Tampa employees in place by April. In addition to cement, SESCO will be supplying crushed limestone aggregate through its Tampa Port facility. SESCO anticipates moving up to 700,000 tons of materials through this facility by the end of 2026.
SESCO serves a variety of industries, including building products manufacturing, distribution, and ready-mix plants. The Port Tampa Bay location provides SESCO with direct access to maritime shipping lanes and excellent connectivity for Florida's major construction markets via interstate highways and rail networks.
