SeaLand low water levels on Amazon River - Low Water Surcharge (LWC)

Oct 01, 2020

During times of low water levels on Amazon River, permissible drafts for all vessels and barges are reduced, leading to a significant decrease on cargo carrying capacity.

Due to this situation, we decided to introduce a Low Water Surcharge (LWC) of 800 BRL per 20`and BRL 1600 per 40`.
The LWC is an exceptional and temporary charge applicable due to the extraordinary conditions of navigation that will be periodically reviewed and adjusted if necessary, by virtue of the current situation. It will be removed once the sailing conditions return to normal.
Surcharge: Low Water Surcharge (LWC)
Scope: Manaus (Import and Export)
Cargo: Dry and Reefer
Amount: 800 BRL per 20' and BRL 1600 per 40'.
Effective date non FMC: October 6th until further notice
Effective date FMC: November 1st until further notice
