Ryp Labs, an agri-technology innovator specializing in natural post-harvest preservation, is rapidly commercializing its unique fresh food shelf-life extension solution to the produce industry. The company is also the recipient of a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I grant to develop the next-generation packaging solution to extend shelf life and reduce spoilage across the fresh produce supply chain.
The new technology, developed under the Ryp Labs brand Shelf Defense, integrates an ethylene inhibitor and the company’s proprietary natural antifungal formula into a single sachet to create the first unified solution designed to both slow ripening and prevent decay. This advancement builds on Ryp Labs’ successful StixFresh product line, which delivers targeted freshness control through easy-to-apply stickers.
“By combining two critical freshness-preserving mechanisms into one delivery system, we’re addressing a major gap in post-harvest handling,” said Moody Soliman, Founder and CEO of Ryp Labs. “Our sachets are changing how growers, distributors and retailers manage perishable produce while reducing reliance on synthetic chemicals.”

Expanding Market Access and Sustainability
Ryp Labs’ technology has already enabled a South American dragon fruit exporter to switch from air to sea freight while maintaining fruit quality for European and U.S. markets. This significantly lowers carbon and shipping costs. The company’s formulations are also engineered for specific fruits, from berries to citrus, to reliably slow the natural process of spoilage and optimize performance across diverse product categories.
Backed by Lineage Ventures
Ryp Labs’ progress continues with strategic backing from Lineage Ventures, the team at Lineage which identifies emerging, high-impact technologies and platforms driving innovation in the global food supply chain, logistics and transportation sectors. Lineage’s investment originated from Ryp Labs’ win at the Food Chain Innovation Challenge (FCIC).
“Ryp Labs embodies the type of forward-thinking entrepreneurship that can reshape the management of fresh produce and reduce global food waste,” said Elliott Wolf, Chief Data Scientist at Lineage and one of the FCIC judges. “Our goal is to work with companies driving scalable innovation across the cold supply chain not only as investors but as collaborators who help bring these ideas to life.”
