Pfannenberg USA Introduces ActivCool ™ DTS 5000 Series Enclosure Cooling Platform

one hour ago

Pfannenberg, Inc., a global leader in thermal management and signaling technologies, announces its new ActiveCool™ DTS 5000 Series of enclosure cooling units, engineered for reliable performance, simplified installation, and safer, more efficient service in a wide range of industrial applications. Building on a proven design, the DTS 5000 Series adds key enhancements in refrigerant technology, airflow, and user interface to better protect critical electronics in densely packed control cabinets.

The DTS 5000 Series uses a long internal air path that draws hot air from above heat-generating components and delivers cooled air below, helping maintain uniform enclosure temperatures. A large evaporator coil supports increased airflow for high-density electrical enclosures, while a compact, side-mount design fits most 12-inch-wide cabinets for easy panel integration. Each unit comes standard with R513A refrigerant, helping customers meet stringent environmental regulations, including those affecting California and IT applications, and is rated A1 nonflammable for added safety.

The series offers models in optimized cooling capacities of 4,700 and 8,500 BTU/hr to cover a wide range of heat loads, with Type 12, 3R, and 4X protection for dusty plant floors, washdown, and outdoor infrastructure.

Critical components are accessible from outside the enclosure, allowing maintenance without opening an energized cabinet and thereby avoiding lockout/tagout procedures while minimizing downtime. A preinstalled enclosure gasket further reduces installation time.

User interaction is streamlined via external status and display options. Customers can choose a LED status indicator version for quick visual confirmation the unit is running, or a digital display controller version that allows viewing and adjustment of temperature settings from outside the panel. The series is listed to UL 60335, reflecting enhanced safety standards for modern industrial equipment.

“By combining an environmentally friendlier R513A refrigerant with full external service access and advanced airflow design, we are giving panel builders and end users a smarter way to manage heat in today’s demanding industrial environments,” said James Wong, Director of Product Management.
