Relocation of MTR’s rail grinder machine in Hong Kong

Dec 29, 2020

Wangfoong Transportation Ltd, member to the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) for Hong Kong, was contracted to relocate the over-weight and over-size MTR rail grinder machine to the MTR depot, where the unloading area is with limited headroom and space requiring special tandem lifting.

The experts from Wangfoong arranged for a night transportation with convoy operation and hydraulic trailer, equipped with adjustable steering system. Two units of lorry cranes were utilized to perform the tandem lifting at the MTR depot, and necessary road permit applied for over-weight and over-size transportation and tailor-made spreader beam for lifting. Wangfoong also prepared documents with method statement and detailed calculations and drawings to make sure a detailed planning was in place.
