Jun 13, 2023

With the arrival of the MSC Elma on Sunday, June 11 to PSA Halifax Atlantic Hub, the Port of Halifax has officially welcomed its fifth MSC Service. The Ecuador to NWC Service rotation includes stops at Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Halifax, Boston, Freeport, Balboa, Guayaquil, Puerto Bolivar, Guayaquil, Paita, Cristobal, Moin and Antwerp.

“This new service provides greater connectivity between Europe and Latin America for Nova Scotia importers and exporters looking to connect with these markets,” said Captain Allan Gray, President and CEO, Halifax Port Authority. “PSA Halifax is doing a tremendous job expanding the services through Halifax and the global reach for those moving goods through our international gateway.”

This service will call at PSA Halifax Atlantic Hub terminal. The first vessel, the MSC Elma, is 300 metres length overall with carrying capacity of 9,408 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units). PSA Halifax Atlantic Hub terminal features the longest and deepest berth of any port in Eastern Canada, with a continuous quay length of 800 metres at a depth of 16.5 metres. The terminal has unimpeded access to international shipping lanes, includes an area of 32 hectares and has five super post-Panamax (SPPX) cranes. Two additional SPPX cranes and new yard handling equipment will arrive later this year.
