Pharma.Aero unveils white paper on Green Air Pharma Logistics Project, highlighting sustainability index for airport-to-airport transportation

Pharma.Aero, the leading organization in the life science logistics industry, announces the official release of the white paper detailing the findings of the Green Air Pharma Logistics Project, with a primary emphasis on air transportation. The delves into sustainability challenges within healthcare supply chain logistics, and introduces a comprehensive index – the Lane Sustainability Readiness Index (LSRI) – to measure the sustainability readiness of stakeholders across the airport-to-airport supply chain.

The collaborative effort aimed to identify key quantitative and qualitative indicators defining a green air lane, involving various stakeholders along the supply chain, including life science manufacturers, airports, airlines, cargo handlers, and solution providers.

The project proposes the Lane Sustainability Readiness Index as a tool to support life science companies and freight forwarders integrate sustainability considerations into freight procurement and lane assessment processes, as part of their efforts in achieving Scope 3 targets. Additionally, it is aimed at supporting freight forwarders and airlines in developing low-emissions products and value propositions aligned with their customers' sustainability goals.

"The decarbonization of air transportation is a multifaceted journey," remarks Ms. Jaisey Yip, project lead, Vice President of the Cargo Business Division at Changi Airport Group – a strategic member of Pharma.Aero. "Beyond the life science industry, the Lane Sustainability Readiness Index (LSRI) is cross-sectoral and aims to provide value to all stakeholders within the air cargo value chain."

Ms. Yip adds, "The GAPL project paves the way for Pharma.Aero and the industry to explore new avenues towards more sustainable air logistics. We anticipate the LSRI's application beyond the airport-to-airport boundary."
