NAWE commends President Trump on the Maritime Action Plan

Mar 04, 2026

The National Association of Waterfront Employers (NAWE) submitted a letter today to President Trump commending his efforts with the Maritime Action Plan.

NAWE President Carl Bentzel states, "We applaud President Trump for his historic commitment to rebuilding the U.S. maritime industry. The unveiling of his Administration's Maritime Action Plan marks a historic and long-overdue effort to revitalize America’s maritime industrial base. Not since the passage of the Merchant Marine Act of 1936 has an Administration so clearly recognized the need to modernize and strengthen the policies that sustain our nation’s maritime capacity. This renewed focus and investment are both necessary and timely. This is particularly important to maritime terminals because NAWE members are uniquely positioned within the supply chain to connect ocean carriers to the nation’s railroads and trucking industry. We are the starting point for the U.S. supply chain, and we look forward to working with the President in building this vision out."
