Motor fuel prices – January 2025

Today, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) released monthly motor fuels prices for January 2025.

In January 2025, the average price for regular motor gasoline was $3.08; up 1.9% from December 2024. The January 2025 price for regular motor gasoline was back to the January 2024 level after having risen from $3.08 in January 2024 to a 12-month high of $3.61 in April 2024.

By region, the average price for regular motor gasoline in January 2025 was:

• West Coast: $3.84 (down 4.1% from January 2024)

• Central Atlantic: $3.16 (down 1.4% from January 2024)

• New England: $2.99 (down 3.5% from January 2024)

• Lower Atlantic: $2.96 (up 0.1% from January 2024)

• Rocky Mountain: $2.90 (up 6.0% from January 2024)

• Midwest: $2.94 (up 4.0% from January 2024)

• Gulf Coast: $2.68 (down 0.4% from January 2024)

Diesel no. 2 rose to $3.63 in January 2025; up 4.0% from December 2024. Diesel fuel prices in January 2025 were down 5.7% from January 2024.
