MDOT welcomes Daniels as new Executive Director for the Maryland Port Administration

Jonathan Daniels has been named the new Executive Director of the Maryland Port Administration (MPA). Jonathan was selected following a rigorous recruitment process that included a high-level executive search committee and nationally recognized maritime executive search firm. He has more than 30 years of port and economic development experience, most recently as the CEO and Port Director at Port Everglades in Broward County, Florida.

At Port Everglades, Daniels was responsible for implementing a $3 billion master/vision plan to expand business lines in containers, energy, and cruise activity. Currently, Port Everglades is the 13th busiest container port in the United States, the busiest energy port in Florida, and the 3rd busiest cruise homeport in the world.

Prior to working at Port Everglades, Daniels served as the Executive Director and CEO for the Mississippi State Port Authority in Gulfport, where he was responsible for the development and oversight of the state’s port authority, to include implementation of a $570 million federally funded expansion and reconstruction project. He  also worked for the Port of Oswego in New York and the Eastern Maine Development Corporation responsible for economic development.

Daniels will begin leading the MPA team on February 5th.
