Kidder Mathews announces new leadership for Greater LA, SoCal, and Arizona

Kidder Mathews is pleased to announce two key leadership appointments as the firm continues building momentum across Greater Los Angeles, Southern California, and Arizona.

Darren Tappen has been promoted to Regional President of Brokerage for the company’s Greater Los Angeles, Southern California, and Arizona markets. He will oversee 215 brokers across eight offices and be responsible for recruitment, business development, client relationships, and integration across service lines.

Tappen brings more than 24 years of commercial real estate experience and a strong leadership and collaboration track record. He joined Kidder Mathews in 2015 when the firm opened its Phoenix office with just eight brokers and one staff member. Since then, he has played a pivotal role in its growth—now home to 46 brokers, six appraisers, two senior property managers, and 15 support staff.

He helped establish one of Kidder Mathews’ top-performing investment sales teams and served as Managing Director of the Phoenix office from 2019 to 2021. A shareholder since 2016 and board member since 2020, Tappen has been a key part of the firm’s continued success.

During his tenure at Kidder Mathews, Tappen has not only been celebrated for his top-tier production—earning him a Big Hitters award—but also for his impact across the firm. He is a five-time recipient of the MVP Award—given by the Asset Services and Valuation Advisory divisions to brokers who drive cross-division success through referrals, joint business, and internal collaboration. He has also received the prestigious JEM Award of Excellence, honoring individuals who go above and beyond to exemplify Kidder Mathews’ core values.

Darrell Levonian will serve as Managing Director in Century City, leading the office’s 30 brokers with a focus on mentorship, business development, recruiting, and enhanced collaboration.

Levonian has had a distinguished career in investment sales, representing a broad range of family office, regional, national, and institutional clients. He joined Kidder Mathews in 2018 to lead the launch of the Century City office—bringing with him more than 20 professionals from Charles Dunn Company, where he previously served as President and Executive Managing Officer. Along with Tappen, Levonian serves on the firm’s board of directors, contributing to the company’s ongoing strategic direction.
