IANA launches on-line intermodal course for members

The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA), has developed an on-line intermodal course available to IANA members. This educational resource, which provides a primer to intermodal freight transportation, was developed in conjunction with the University of Maryland Smith School of Business and Delft University of Technology.

Organized in eight modules, each covering a specific topic, such as Seaport Operations, Container Terminal Operations, Truck Transport and Rail Operations, can be used by junior employees wanting to learn about intermodal transportation, as well as shippers and clients who are interested in the potential benefits of intermodal transportation. Along with the course content, a searchable glossary of terms and abbreviations is provided.

“This resource is invaluable to individuals who are new to intermodal as well as to those who have been in the industry for years,” shared IANA President and CEO Joni Casey. “IANA is pleased to have worked closely with our university partners in developing this course for our members to use in ensuring that their employees are knowledgeable about the entire intermodal freight supply chain, not just the mode in which they are working.”
