Jan 11, 2024

At the turn of the year, Roman Fürtig took over the management of the HHM Representative Office Germany East of the Port of Hamburg. The graduate historian and political scientist is succeeding Stefan Kunze, who will be taking his well-deserved retirement at the end of April.

Roman Fürtig, a native of Mecklenburg, will be responsible for the market environment in Eastern Germany from Berlin. He acts as the contact person for members and companies in this region. In Berlin, Fürtig will also have the opportunity to provide representatives of federal politics with comprehensive information about the Port of Hamburg. "We are looking forward to working with Roman Fürtig and are certain that he will make a valuable contribution to promoting the Port of Hamburg in the Eastern Germany region with his expertise and commitment. Antje Göhler will continue to support him from our office in Dresden," emphasises Axel Mattern, Member of the Port of Hamburg Marketing Board.

Over the past 20 years, the 49-year-old Fürtig has worked as a scientific advisor and as office manager for Hamburg members of parliament in the German Bundestag. Among other things, he was involved with the Port of Hamburg and its hinterland transport for many years. He also helped to shape the overall Elbe concept. As honorary chairman of the association "Die Pfeffersäcke", in which Hamburg residents who work in Berlin are active, he has another close relationship with the Hanseatic city.
