Jul 01, 2022

Historic milestone reached while delivering with industry leading performance measures in safety and efficiency

First Coast Terminals, LLC (FCT) celebrated its one-year anniversary at an event highlighting the safe and efficient movement of freight at its facility alongside the St. John’s River.

“First Coast Terminals was established to provide customers operational efficiencies that minimize downtime and expedite the loading and unloading of freight by leveraging our experienced port management personnel and network of deployable resources” said First Coast Terminals General Manager Brad Bishop. “I’m extremely proud of our dedicated shore-based workers, who have devoted themselves to excellence in service each and every day to reach this historic milestone.”

Situated on nearly 50-acres, 12.5 miles from the sea buoy, FCT operates up to eight berths capable of handling containers and roll-on/roll-off freight. FCT manages a fleet of 11 container handlers and other equipment, as well as the active use of port cranes.

In its first year, FCT’s stevedoring and terminal operations supported 104 vessel calls, handling more than 1.4 million tons of cargo, and processing over 180,000 gate transactions, while maintaining a vessel production of 40.86 moves per gang hour and an average gate turn time of 19 minutes and 14 seconds.

“Despite challenges stemming from the pandemic, supply chain disruptions and the most severe economic pressures seen in the last 40 years, FCT has managed to provide safe and efficient services without delay throughout our first year of operations,” said Bishop. “Our team is the foundation of our success, and we look forward to continuously improving on the safety and efficiency of our operations in the year ahead.”
