Australian coast to coast heavy and oversize transport

Oct 08, 2020

Sadleirs Global Logistics (Australia), member to the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) for Australia, was tasked with the movement of two locally manufactured Oil and Gas control rooms each measuring 28.5m L x 7.2m W x 4.5m H and weighing 108 ton from Brisbane, Queensland to Karratha in Western Australia for their client Chevron.

This epic one-way journey of over 5800 km across Australia through multiple states required extensive planning, right from the original route survey through to the operational co-ordination and communications. This was never going to be a simple move, with transport and transit approvals being required from some 227 individual municipalities along with arranging both private and police escorts, a max speed limit of 40 km’s per hour, daytime movement and numerous obstacles to overcome with such a move.

A spokesperson for the company said: “The two transits also encountered localised flooding, extreme heat, frost (Yes, frost in Australia), numerous Covid-19 related tests and restrictions and worst of all the massive Aussie bushfires. We had it all…

The end result, despite these challenges:

Both control rooms delivered safely, efficiently and in perfect condition to a very satisfied customer.

Many thanks to our project partners Russells Transport and the entire Chevron Team.”
