ATA Freight surpasses one quarter million lifetime tree plantings

Apr 25, 2022

ATA Freight, a leading global logistics and freight forwarding services provider, has again demonstrated its sustainability leadership by reaching a tree planting milestone. The company, has been supporting Trees for the Future (TREES) since 2011, and, as it celebrates Earth Day 2022, the company is proud to announces that, through its relationship with this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to end hunger and poverty by training farmers to regenerate their land, it has supported the planting of 252,000 lifetime trees in 101 forest gardens, contributing to the restoration of over 101 acres of land and helping 808 farming family members.

ATA Freight Chief Executive Officer Matt Goker, a staunch advocate for environmental preservation and sustainability, stated, “At every level of our organization, we are committed to protecting the planet and preserving all of its natural resources. Working with TREES is one of our initiatives. We are witnessing the devastating effects of global warming on our planet and how our actions have significant consequences. We are now at the point where we must make hard changes to reduce any further damage.”

Within ATA Freight, the company has adopted sustainable practices. The company supports the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals and Paris Climate Agreement, as well as the Smart Freight Centre and its Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) Framework. Goker is also actively driving the Company’s R&D activities to focus on sustainable initiatives. For example, the company has developed tools to help shippers measure their shipment’s CO2 emissions and then offset their carbon footprint through an accompanying tree-planting carbon offset program.

ATA Freight’s leadership on sustainability has been recognized with the conferring of an EcoVadis Bronze Medal Sustainability Leadership Award for “leading the charge in sustainability performance and innovative around the globe.”
