World crude steel production for the 69 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 153.4 million tonnes (Mt) in April 2026, a 1.9% decrease compared to April 2025.

Africa produced 2.1 Mt in April 2026, up 11.5% on April 2025. Asia and Oceania produced 114.2 Mt, down 1.3%. The EU (27) produced 11.0 Mt, down 1.8%. Europe, Other produced 3.6 Mt, up 4.2%. The Middle East produced 3.7 Mt, down 27.6%. North America produced 9.4 Mt, up 6.9%. Russia & other CIS + Ukraine produced 6.0 Mt, down 13.4%. South America produced 3.4 Mt, up 3.1%.

The 69 countries included in this table accounted for approximately 98% of total world crude steel production in 2025.

China produced 83.6 Mt in April 2026, down 2.8% on April 2025. India produced 13.8Mt, up 3.9%. The United States produced 7.2 Mt, up 9.4%. Japan produced 6.6 Mt, up 0.3%. South Korea produced 5.2 Mt, up 4.8%. Russia is estimated to have produced 5.0 Mt, down 12.4%. Türkiye produced 3.3 Mt, up 9.4%. Germany produced 3.2 Mt, up 9.5%. Brazil is estimated to have produced 2.7 Mt, up 2.8%. Viet Nam is estimated to have produced 2.1 Mt, up 4.0%.
