It is also a key business partner for Yang Ming in providing inland transportation services for customers. UP Railroad has established the Sustainability Partner Awards to evaluate its upstream and downstream partners across various criteria, including environmental policies, human rights equality, labor rights, cybersecurity initiatives, risk management, and business integrity. The award recognizes companies that utilize innovative business models to reduce their environmental impact and share value with stakeholders through actions. It also honors business partners who have demonstrated leadership and made significant progress toward achieving sustainability goals.

Yang Ming has been committed to promoting sustainability by implementing policies in environmental protection, social responsibility, and corporate governance, to maintain competitiveness and operational resilience in the ever-evolving shipping industry. The Company has set a goal for net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. To reach this goal, Yang Ming is focused on vessel replacement, energy optimization, and the integration of smart technologies to reduce energy consumption and improve operational efficiency. Yang Ming also maintains open communication channels with stakeholders, actively addressing significant sustainable issues and ensuring transparency through its sustainability reports. Given the long-standing partnership between Yang Ming and UP Railroad, the Company has participated in the award selection process since 2023.
