Value Maritime appoints technical consultant and agent in South Korea

Sep 23, 2025

Dutch emission-reduction technology innovator Value Maritime has signed a commercial representation agreement with Union Tech, appointing the company as its technical consultant and agent for Value Maritime’s solutions in South Korea.

Shipbuilding network

As Value Maritime’s representative in South Korea, Union Tech will be responsible for offering the company’s full range of products and services to its local shipbuilding network. This includes the Filtree solution - SOx scrubber and Onboard Carbon Capture System (OCCS) - along with components, engineering, and related services. Union Tech will act as the bridge between Value Maritime, domestic shipyards, and shipowners.

With increasing pressure from IMO GHG reduction strategies and the introduction of carbon pricing mechanisms worldwide, South Korean shipowners and builders are accelerating the adoption of eco-friendly solutions, and there’s a growing demand for cost-effective scrubbers and onboard carbon capture systems (OCCS).

“As representatives of Value Maritime in South Korea, Union Tech is playing a critical role not only in direct sales to shipowners, but more importantly, in navigating complex shipyard collaboration processes to successfully integrate these technologies into newbuilds and retrofit projects. Our SOx Scrubber and Carbon Capture solution is ideally suited for medium-sized ships being built in South Korea. Concentrating on shipyards building in these size categories is a key target for our colleagues at Union Tech and we welcome their support,” said Frédéric Le Moullec, Commercial Manager - Value Maritime

“Union Tech has established a strong network across South Korean shipbuilders and shipyards. We handle both domestic and international orders, including newbuilds and retrofits requested by shipowners. From initial contract to construction and final delivery, we ensure a seamless process with precision and expertise. We look forward to securing more business for Value Maritime in South Korea,” said Chaesung Lim (임채성), Managing Director - Naval Architect / Basic Design Dept. – Union Tech
