TUAL unveils Boost Charger powerbank to plug the energy gap at electric commercial-vehicle fleet sites

Oct 28, 2024

TUAL, the leading innovator in swappable powerbanks for commercial electric vehicles, today announces the launch of its Boost Charger – a state-of-the-art battery-buffer powerbank solution enabling commercial-vehicle fleets to plug the gaps in energy supply and relieve their reliance on grid infrastructure.

A natural extension of TUAL’s industry-leading vehicle powerbank solutions portfolio, the Boost Charger utilises the same robust design and innovative technology – providing fleet-depot sites facing limited energy supply with dependable DC battery-buffer power to keep vehicles operating efficiently and to-schedule.

In-keeping with the flexibility of TUAL’s vehicle-fitted powerbanks, the Boost Charger majors on versatility and speed of deployment. The technology is intended for deployment within 48 hours of transaction (subject to stock), with fleet operators able to utilise the solution seamlessly within hours of installation.

The DC battery-buffer solution is designed to make full use of fleet-sites’ energy capacity, transforming an unusable site into a tactical recharge depot overnight. Drawing and storing available grid-power all times of the day and night when most efficient, operators are able to subsequently deploy the power as required, delivering high-power charging up to 120kW and giving fleets the intensive charging capability required to achieve maximum vehicle uptime.

Philip Clarke, CEO and Founder of TUAL: “For enterprise fleets looking to electrify, grid energy capacity often presents a significant barrier to a cost-effective transition; our analysis indicates that 80% of locations that fleets want to charge commercial vehicles have constrained or absent grid connections. Upgrading local grid capacity can be a hugely cost- and time-intensive process, which is something that fleets – and indeed the industry – simply cannot afford in the short- and long-term. Vehicle decarbonisation needs to make significant progress today, and smart technologies are needed to make that happen. That is what TUAL’s Boost Charger solution represents, and makes us ideally suited to helping fleets get the power they need to succeed, wherever and whenever they need it.”

Lost productivity from charging downtime can cost fleets up to £150,000 per driver or vehicle over a 5-year period. TUAL’s comprehensive portfolio of powerbank solutions has been designed to help enterprise fleets overcome the challenges of inefficient charging practices and grid constraints, with its vehicle powerbank products fully scalable across all OEMs and seamlessly installed courtesy of dedicated integration kits.
